First let’s start by selecting the oil type in regards with the temperature chart.

Husqvarna st224 Oil Change
Husqvarna st224 has a LCT 208cc 4 stroke engine.
Since the snow blower will not operate at temperatures higher than 0C (32F) I am recommending 5W30 oil. (synthetic oil it is acceptable).

Oil quantity for this engine capacity is 16oz (0.473 liter).

Second we will have to prepare the tools.

• Suitable container to retain the used oil.
• Funnel
• Wrench
• 5/8 socket
• Ratchet
• Dry rag

Third … now we can start the oil change job.

Most of all be sure to have the engine cool at this point.
Next go and move the snow blower OUTSIDE OF CLOSED SPACES and start the engine and run it for 1 to 2 minutes (MAX ambient temperature 0C – 32F). As a result oil will drain more easy (when warm).
After that stop the engine by moving the SWITCH to OFF position (A).
Maybe you will have the option to move back inside at a more pleasant temperature.
Remove the Safety Ignition Key from slot (B).
Turn the fuel shut-off valve to OFF (C)

While keeping the body of the oil drain tub in a fix position by using the wrench (apply the force in clockwise direction) loosen the Drain plug (turn the ratchet counter-clockwise).

YOU MUST WEAR GLOVES ALL THE TIME WHEN HANDLING OIL BECAUSE CAN CAUSE HARM TO YOUR SKIN.
Next remove the oil drain plug and the crush washer.
Incline to BACK the snow blower and wait for the oil to drain completely.
When remove the Cap/Dipstick AVOID ANY FOREIGN MATERIALS to drop in the oil tube (pipe).
DISPOSE THE USED OIL FOLLOWING THE ENVIRONMENTAL RULES IN YOUR AREA.
Husqvarna st224 Oil Change
Always verify if the oil drain tube is tight in the engine block by applying a moderate force clockwise to the wrench.
Husqvarna st224 Oil Change
Finally reinstall the oil drain plug and the washer.
Husqvarna st224 Oil Change
Next add 16oz (0.473 liter) oil to the engine.
Husqvarna st224 Oil Change
Be sure to clean the dipstick of oil residue by rubbing it with a rag.
After that put the cap / dipstick from the oil fill tube back in lock position. Remove the cap again and check the level on the dipstick. Level must NOT PASS THE UPPER LIMIT. See image below.

NOTE: DO NOT OVERFILL because you can damage the engine.
